Update from the mission president....

Ecuador END of the PROTEST
Dear Parents,
The government of Lenín Moreno repeals the decree that eliminated the fuel subsidy and announces the end of the protests in all Ecuador. As a result of the dialogue, a new decree is established that leaves Decree 883 without effect, for which purpose a commission is established to prepare this new decree. The agreement was reached at a dialogue table installed on the outskirts of Quito and with the mediation of the UN. The text of the joint press release indicates that with this agreement the mobilizations and de facto measures are terminated throughout Ecuador. And they remain jointly committed to restoring peace in the country.
Since the indigenous mobilizations began, we made the decision as a mission to keep the missionaries in their homes. We coordinated with the stake presidents so food was distributed by the local leaders and ward members. We maintained constant communication using phone calls and text with the young leaders and when necessary with each companionship to make sure they had their food and kept busy with their study of Preach My Gospel and the Book of Mormon. At all times we knew how was the situation in each area and both Sister Chacon and I placed telephone calls directly to the areas that required it in order to take the necessary measures or provide encouragement. As young missionaries who are accustomed to working 100% for the Lord, they felt anxious to go out and teach the gospel and serve others. However at all times they stayed in their homes and were very obedient and accurately fulfilled every instruction they were given.
As parents you should feel very proud in the way our extraordinary missionaries behaved. There is no doubt that they are part of the Missionary Battalion called by the Lord.
At this moment everyone is in good health and with a huge desire to continue working on this wonderful work. To act wisely, as the demobilization of the indigenous people comes, and to ensure that the protests are finally over, our mission will keep the missionaries in their homes all day Monday. If everything is normal, we will move the preparation day for Tuesday.
We love your missionaries, our missionaries. We feel a great love for them as our own children and we are very happy and privileged to serve with this group of 171 mature young men and women in the gospel. They are outstanding.
Thank you for your prayers, your fasting and patience. We felt the Lord´s hand at all times.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Un fuerte abrazo
