Justin's Ecuador Quito North Mission

We had a great video chat today, he is doing well.  He hasn't eaten anything weird except for this fruit, he's not sure what it's called. He is about to go Aki which translates to "Here", it's the grocery store.  He says things are going really well!  He thinks he has gained some weight there!

We chatted over email for a few minutes today, he was at a "cyber", that's what they call internet cafes there.  I asked how his week was.... It has been great, lots of lessons and talking to everyone, my Spanish has been slowly improving. Justin and his companion, Elder Oliphant. This was taken while he was still in Mesa, Arizona. We had a Skype call today for p-day!  He arrived in Quito and stayed there for a day.  After that, he traveled by bus for 6 hours to a place called Quininde, it's in the Esmeraldas Province.  On the way, he passed a volcano, it was a mountainous ride, he took pictures on the way but will have to wait until next week when he goes to an internet cafe to upload them.  Quininde is near the coast but he can't see the ocean from where he is.   Life there is very different!  He said he will be eating rat on Tuesday!!!  No one can drink the water there, not even the people who are from there.  He says people have a lot of parasite problems!   His new companion doesn't speak any English, his name is Elder Puma, he is from Peru!  They are helping each other with language studies. He is living in an apartment with his companion.  There isn't any such thing as warm water and don't ask ab...

We received an email earlier today saying that he was flying to Ecuador this morning!  He wasn't supposed to leave until April 15th!  He is flying from Phoenix to Miami.  He'll then fly from Miami to Ecuador!  Please pray for safe travels! Update!!! He arrived safely in Miami! He called from the airport!  So glad I answered that weird number that called:) They had lunch at the Pizza Hut, I think they are boarding soon.  The flight leaves Miami at 7 pm and they will arrive in Ecuador around 10 pm.
